UAlbany men's and women's basketball release 2024-'25 schedules
ALBANY, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- A number of college basketball teams dropped schedules for the 2024-'25 season Thursday, including the UAlbany men and women's squads.
On the men's side, UAlbany's non-conference slate features a total of 14 games, consisting of five games at home in the Broadview Center, six road trips and three games at neutral sites in Puerto Rico. The Great Danes' conference schedule features 16 total games with eight at home and eight on the road. In total, they'll play 30 regular season games.
Coach Dwayne Killings:
"This year's schedule prepares us for our quest for an America East championship," said Coach Dwayne Killings. "Our athletes will get to compete against two of college basketballs most storied programs in Georgetown and Syracuse along with taking a trip to President Rodriguez's home community as we participate in the San Juan Classico.
"We will ask the community to come out to support us as we work towards making the Broadview Center the best home court environment in the country. With games against rivals Siena and Stony Brook, this schedule is built to challenge us each time we take the floor. I can't wait for November to arrive."
Non-Conference Breakdown
The Great Danes' home opener at Broadview Center is set for November 11 against SUNY Oneonta.
The Albany Cup makes its debut at Broadview Center on November 16 against crosstown rival Siena. It will be the first time the Capital Region rivalry takes place at UAlbany's updated home, which underwent renovations during the 2022-23 season to improve fan experience and provide state-of-the-art facilities for the university's athletic programs.
The Purple and Gold will then return to the Broadview Center on December 4 against Columbia prior to welcoming Drexel before the final non-conference home game against Stony Brook on December 29. The matchup with the Seawolves will be the first since the Long Island school, one of UAlbany's top rivals, moved to the Coastal Athletic Conference (CAA).
The 2024-25 season officially kicks off when UAlbany takes on Army West Point on November 4. After the home opener on November 9, the Great Danes then ship out to Hanover, N.H., to take on Dartmouth on November 13. The team will then venture to the nation's capital in Washington, D.C., which pits the Great Danes up against hosting Georgetown. Back-to-back road trips have the Purple and Gold matched up against Boston University before heading west on I-90 to take on Syracuse. UAlbany then closes out its non-conference road games with a stop at Sacred Heart in Fairfield, Conn., prior to journeying south into the Bronx against Fordham.
America East Breakdown:
To start America East play, the Great Danes will kick off the new year at the Broadview Center against the UMass Lowell River Hawks on Saturday, January 4, for the home conference opener. Following a couple games on the road UAlbany returns to home court against Bryant on January 16. From the end of January throughout the beginning of March, the Great Danes will host three games in a row as they take on UMBC, NJIT and Binghamton. The final two home games of the season see the Great Danes facing the University of Maine followed by New Hampshire.
UAlbany's first road trip of conference play will see the team go up against New Hampshire before heading to Maine. The Great Danes then head down to Binghamton to battle the Bearcats before the next road trip against Bryant in Smithfield, R.I. UMass Lowell then welcome UAlbany the following week. To end the regular season the Great Danes are set for three road trips against UMBC, NJIT, and Vermont.

For Colleen Mullen's Danes, their schedule consists of 13 non-conference games with six home tilts before conference play begins on January 2.
“For the first time in two seasons, we are thrilled to be playing all of our home games in the elite Broadview Center,” said Mullen. “We have a strong non-conference slate which features talented mid-major teams as well as opponents from the Big Ten, ACC and SEC. I’m confident that our preseason lineup will both challenge and prepare us to compete for an America East title.
“I anticipate the league to be extremely competitive this season. Multiple teams return top players from last year’s roster and have added talented newcomers. We know it will be another exciting season with a great brand of basketball.”
UAlbany will open the season at Broadview Center against URI on Friday, November 8. Heading on the road to face Dartmouth on November 13, the Great Danes will return to face Sacred Heart on November 16.
In their final road game of November, the Great Danes will travel west on I-90 to face ACC-foe, Syracuse (Nov. 20). Before taking a short break for Thanksgiving, UAlbany will host Cornell (Nov. 23) and RPI (Nov. 27) at Broadview Center.
Two home contests in the middle of December - St. Bonaventure (Dec. 14) and Merrimack (Dec. 16) - follow a three-game road trip with matchups at Stonehill (Dec. 1), Siena (Dec. 7), and Boston U. (Dec. 10).
For their final two games of 2024, the Great Danes will travel to Big Ten’s Wisconsin (Dec. 20) and SEC’s LSU (Dec. 29).
Looking forward to an exciting America East schedule, UAlbany will begin conference play against Vermont in Broadview Center (Jan. 2).
The Great Danes will trade home and away contests throughout the month of January before heading on the road for their longest road streak of league play - three games against UMBC (Jan. 23), NJIT (Jan. 25), and Binghamton (Feb. 1).
UAlbany will end the season with a week on the road - Maine (Feb. 20) and New Hampshire (Feb. 22) - and a week at home - UMBC (Feb. 27) and NJIT (Mar. 1).
