‘Rough ride’ – Jamie O’Hara predicts the score for Tottenham vs Arsenal

The North London derby is a fixture Spurs fans relish and fear in equal measure, but Jamie O’Hara thinks the Lilywhites might just have the upper hand over Arsenal this weekend.

Rice and Odegaard key for Arsenal

Arsenal have been fairly dominant over Spurs in the last couple of years, winning both their previous games at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, and finishing above their fierce rivals in the league.

Now, with the first North London derby of the season coming up on Sunday, there is a chance for Tottenham to redress the balance somewhat, and Jamie O’Hara believes that is more likely to happen due to Declan Rice and Martin Odegaard being unavailable for the Gunners.

O’Hara told Grosvenor Sport: “I’ve got a feeling Arsenal are in for a rough ride this weekend. With Declan Rice suspended and Martin Odegaard most likely out, their line-up is looking a bit shaky. Rice has been a real game-changer for Arsenal, so his absence could be a big boost for Tottenham.

“Without him, I think Arsenal’s midfield will struggle. He’s been their most important player – he breaks up play as he anticipates where the ball is going to be. When he’s not on the pitch, Arsenal play differently. If Thomas Partey’s defensive work continues to be a bit off, like it was for Brighton’s goal in the last game, James Maddison might find plenty of space to make things happen.

“Arsenal’s defence, while solid, isn’t invincible. Gabriel Magalhães and William Saliba are great, but they’re not exactly untouchable – they’re no Jaap Stam.”

Spurs can control the game

With those absences leaving Arsenal vulnerable, O’Hara has predicted that Spurs can take advantage and control the game. He’s even predicted Ange Postecoglou’s side can come away from the match with all three points.

O’Hara added: “Tottenham have been playing some top-notch football, dominating possession and creating chances. We’ve seen strong performances against Leicester and Newcastle even if the result didn’t go their way, and it’s only a matter of time before those chances start finding the back of the net.

“I’m expecting Tottenham to dictate the game, keep most of the possession, and make their opportunities count. I predict a 2-1 win for Spurs.

“Heung-min Son could easily bag a couple of goals and with Dominic Solanke possibly returning, and players like Wilson Odobert and Dejan Kulusevski ready to make their mark, Tottenham’s squad has everything it takes to win the North London Derby.”

Spurs Web Opinion

I love the optimism from O’Hara here, and I wish I could feel the same, but these games really stress me out and make me fear the worst. Please, Tottenham, do not ruin the weekend.
