Ex-GOP strategist says Trump 'beclowned himself' at debate and likens it to 'elder abuse'
Former GOP strategist turned Lincoln Project chief Rick Wilson shredded former President Donald Trump over his debate performance on the latest episode of his podcast, proclaiming that Vice President Kamala Harris routed him and exposed his every weakness.
"Donald Trump came to Pennsylvania last night thinking he was going to have another night like he had with Joe Biden," said Wilson. "Instead, Kamala Harris, like Beatrix Kiddo in Kill Bill, took out the sword and went to work."
Harris, he continued, put on "one of the best debate performances of our lifetimes, and I mean that by a good order of magnitude" — which, he stressed, he knows what he's talking about, since he's been involved in preparations for "dozens" of debates.
The debate, Wilson continued, was over the second Trump was thrown off by Harris coming up to him for a power handshake — "long before he opened his sewer to lie." He then "beclowned himself" and demonstrated that the whole spectacle was an "embarrassing, painful example of elder abuse. The staff should have this guy in a care home, not on the campaign trail."

One of the highlights, said Wilson, was when Trump rattled off the viral internet hoax about Haitian migrants eating people's cats and dogs in Springfield, Ohio — a "lunatic, nutburger, weirdo meme story that the Republican apparatus has now been forced to echo."
That moment he continued, proved that "he didn't prepare for the debate in any meaningful way," relying on fringe people like "Laura Loomer and Tulsi Gabbard." And while Trump continued "sputtering and stuttering" his way through, Harris "had his number ... the whole night she was manipulating Trump's emotional state in a way that absolutely wrecked him."
In particular, she got him when she said Trump's rallies have become so "boring" his own supporters are walking out on him, said Wilson.
"She couldn't have offended him more and pi---- him off more and made him more crazy, than if she had said, I'm going to Mar-a-Lago to burn the place to the ground," he said.
Ultimately, Wilson concluded, "It was astounding, once again, to watch a former president talk about this country like he hates it. And folks, he does. He failed in this debate because he does not love America. He loves only himself. And that narcissism and that self-regard can only go so far. And last night, you saw where it went: right off a cliff for Donald Trump."
