WWE: Dave Bautista Open Up How Easy It Was To Feature Drew McIntyre In His New Movie

New Delhi: World Wrestling Entertainment’s former iconic wrestler Bautista returns to the big screen this weekend in his new movie, The Killer’s Game. No risk of spoilers here, especially since I’ve not seen the movie yet, but in it, Bautista plays a retired hitman who must evade his peers after putting a hit out on himself when given a terminal diagnosis that turns out to be inaccurate. Bautista isn’t the only actor in The Killer’s Game WWE fans will recognize as the film will also mark the Hollywood debut of Drew McIntyre.

“I was having a conversation with (director JJ Perry) and he said I need a great big guy who’s almost intimidating to you, a guy who’d be bigger than you, and I also need him to be able to pull off a Scottish accent. Do you know anybody?’ I was like Man, I’ve got the perfect guy.”

Bautista also stated that he showed Perry pictures pointing the direction towards Drew McIntyre and urged them not to keep looking as they would not find anyone more suited to the role than him. I mean, someone bigger than Bautista with a Scottish accent who can act.

All that needed to happen after McIntyre was approached was for WWE and Triple H to let it happen, which Bautista noted isn’t a problem anymore now that The Game’s in charge. The Animal admitted the reason he left WWE when he did was so he could pursue other avenues as that wasn’t really allowed when he was a WWE Superstar. The idea was that everything remains contained, whereas Triple H understands if wrestlers contracted to WWE are appearing in Hollywood blockbusters, they’re potentially bringing new fans back with them when they return to the ring.

McIntyre will appear in a movie for the first time this Friday when The Killer’s Game hits theatres, and I hope he makes an impact and begins a new era in his career. While Bautista is something of an anomaly, having his acting career kicked off with a starring role in Guardians of the Galaxy, most wrestlers who make it in Hollywood kick things off with a small role that gets them noticed. The Rock, for example, played The Scorpion King in The Mummy Returns before going on to become one of the biggest movie stars on the planet.
