MLB news roundup

Good morning Athletics Nation!

The Athletics stole the first two games from the division rival Houston Astros. Things are going well. We have secured the series win. The club will now have a chance at a three-game sweep, which would be their first since early July. Playing spoiler is always fun but doing it against these guys is extra juicy. Houston is still currently in position to go to the playoffs yet again but they’re not looking good and their division lead is just four games. The club will turn to righty rookie Mitch Spence this morning with the hope of finishing off the Astros for good to end the season on a high note against the division leaders.

After we wrap this up the club heads to the Windy City for six games. No, not all against the same team. The club will be taking on both Chicago basebasll teams this upcoming weekend, first heading to the South Side to take on the White Sox. They’re where the Athletics were last year: historically bad on-field results and a horrible owner who doesn’t seem to care whether his team wins or loses. There is even rumors going around that if the White Sox don’t get a new stadium soon, he might pack up and leave town. Sound familiar?

After the White Sox the club will take the long, arduous journey across the city to the North Side, where the Cubs will welcome the Athletics to Wrigley Field for the first and last time this year. Chicago is still on the periphery of the playoff hunt so they still have a lot to play for. Which will make any A’s wins all the sweeter. It doesn’t matter who you’re playing, just playing spoiler is always fun.

Have a great Thursday everyone!
