Two arrested after multiple Saratoga County burglaries
CLIFTON PARK, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- State police reported the arrest of two men from Schenectady after an investigation into multiple thefts in Saratoga County. Olijajwuan Sheppard, 25, and Johnson Gooden-Prunty, 29, are both facing numerous charges.
On September 7 around 8:32 a.m., state police responded to Castle Pines Drive in Clifton Park following reports of two suspicious men in the area. After not locating the men during a search of the vicinity, troopers received a report of a man unlawfully entering an unoccupied building on Bruno Road who matched the description of one of the suspects.
State police arriving to Bruno Road were able to locate the man, identified as Gooden-Prunty, and took him into custody alongside deputies with the Saratoga County Sheriff’s Office after reportedly finding him with stolen property. Further search efforts resulted in Sheppard being found in the area as well, who was also arrested and found with allegedly stolen property after a brief chase.
Both men are accused of working together to steal items from unsecured vehicles in the area. During the investigation, Sheppard was also identified as a suspect of a garage burglary at a home in Ballston Spa between August 6 and 7. The two now face the following charges:
Sheppard
- Second-degree burglary
- Fifth-degree criminal possession of stolen property
- Fifth-degree conspiracy
- Resisting arrest
- Second-degree obstructing governmental administration
Gooden-Prunty
- Third-degree burglary
- Fifth-degree criminal possession of stolen property
- Fifth-degree conspiracy
Sheppard and Gooden-Prunty were arraigned at the Clifton Park Town Court before being remanded to the Saratoga County Correctional Facility in lieu of $5,000 cash or $10,000 bond.
