Teen accused of threatening Shenendehowa faculty members
CLIFTON PARK, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- According to the Saratoga County Sheriff's Office, a teen has been accused of making threats toward multiple faculty members at the Shenendehowa High School West on Wednesday. The unnamed 14-year-old was arrested and charged with two counts of making a threat of mass harm.
The school district reported that two administrators and a counselor received threatening messages, all from the same Gmail account. Upon receiving notification of the threats, the sheriff's office says one of the Shenendehowa school resource officers immediately initiated an investigation and determined the threats were not credible.
The juvenile accused of sending these threats was released to parental custody and referred to probation for further action, according to the sheriff's office. New York State Police and the Federal Bureau of Investigation assisted in this case.
"Law enforcement has increased its presence at our schools, and our staff is ensuring that safety protocols are strictly followed. Any situation that poses a threat to our schools, students, and staff will be taken seriously and addressed with the utmost urgency," said the school district in a statement it provided to the guardians of students on Thursday.
