$175,000 salary offered in hunt for new Topeka police chief
TOPEKA (KSNT) - City leaders are looking for the next chief of police for the Capital City.
Daniel Garrett, City of Topeka spokesman, said in a press release that applicants can start sending in their materials for the position of chief of police on Sept. 12. A salary of $175,000 is being offered for whoever ends up filling the spot.

City officials asked Topekans to weigh in on what the new chief of police application should look like through the use of public meetings and opinion polls. The city's current interim police chief is Deputy Police Chief Jamey Haltom who is filling in for former Police Chief Bryan Wheeles.
