Bissouma flies home immediately

It was a fruitful international break for Bissouma, at least until the 60th minute of the game between Mali and Eswatini. The Spurs man scored in both of his country’s games as part of African Cup of Nations qualifiers, including the winning goal on Tuesday.

But, in that game, he was forced off just after the hour mark when an opponent stamped on his foot. Bissouma now faces an anxious wait to see whether he will be passed fit for the clash with Arsenal this weekend.

Still, it sounds like Bissouma is doing everything possible to ensure he is ready. According to a report from LondonWorld, the midfielder took the first flight back from Africa to get to Hotspur Way as quickly as possible.

It is thought the 28-year-old is “desperate to impress” Ange Postecoglou and regain his trust following his laughing gas incident last month and made the decision to get back to the club as soon as possible to maximise his chances of being available for Sunday.

He is now looking to “manage the pain” and will be assessed ahead of the weekend.

Postecoglou will want Bissouma

Despite the controversy at the start of the season, Postecoglou has put his trust back in Bissouma and reaped the rewards.

The Malian started the last two games for Spurs, scoring in the game against Everton to register his first competitive goal for the club.

Spurs Web Opinion

I’ve been really impressed by Bissouma’s change in attitude of late. As bad as that incident was at the start of the season, I think it was a big wake-up call for him, and will benefit him long-term. Hopefully, this injury isn’t too serious and we can see him take on Arsenal.
