Maddison reveals what Postecoglou has told Spurs squad about his retirement
Footballers careers are fleetingly short, when you look at the bigger picture. Football managers can have even shorter careers, depending on how they perform. But for Ange Postecoglou, the idea of retiring is out of question, says James Maddison.
Ange Postecoglou loves the game
Postecoglou arrived at Spurs last summer and immediately transformed the club with his warm attitude and attacking approach to football.
He’s been given relatively big backing by the board and now has a certain degree of pressure on his shoulders to deliver success at Tottenham.
The Australian has had a pretty long and successful career in management already, but it sounds like he’s nowhere near ready to call it a day yet.
James Maddison has been speaking to Optus Sport about his coach, and revealed that Postecoglou loves football so much that he cannot help but keep pushing his players and trying to win trophies.
He said: “He’s very passionate about his job. He’s said before that he’s at an age where he could easily go and retire and go on a lovely holiday into the sunset.
“But he cares so much about winning and football and his love for football is why he’s still doing this and he’s still so hungry to get the best out of us and win more.”
Success has to come at Spurs
Both Maddison and Postecoglou are eager to deliver silverware to Spurs. That’s something Maddison discussed in the interview, too.
He explained that for a club of Tottenham’s size and with the squad they have, the Lilywhites should be competing for honours across all fronts.
Spurs Web Opinion
I can’t imagine someone like Postecoglou ever deciding to quit on anything. Hopefully, he can get a few trophies in the bag for Spurs over the next few years and then put his feet up.
