Jenna Ortega Recalls Final Time Seeing Cameron Boyce at an Awkward Audition, Reveals How He Helped
Jenna Ortega opened up about her final memories of her friend Cameron Boyce.
If you were unaware, the 21-year-old Beetlejuice Beetlejuice star has roots in the Disney Channel, where Cameron – who tragically passed away at the age of 20 in 2019 – also worked and starred in the Descendants movies.
In a new interview with the French outlet Canal+, Jenna recalled auditioning for a project with Cameron. She explained that it was an awkward experience and revealed how he helped make it better.

“The last time I saw my friend Cameron Boyce — I had known him since I was like 11 or 12, and we were supposed to kiss [in an audition],” she recalled. “And he knew me since I was 11 or 12. This is a few years later.”
Jenna guessed that she was around the age of 16 at the time, and they were supposed to be playing “love interests.”
“But because he obviously felt weird and he was a bit older, he was like… We both just kinda looked at each other and we were like, ‘No, we can’t do this,’” she said. “And it was so sweet because I was uncomfortable and I was having a hard time.”
She added that they parted by “wish[ing] each other well.”
