Kaia Gerber References Mom Cindy Crawford at TIFF 2024 'Shell' Premiere
Kaia Gerber makes a sweet tribute to her mom Cindy Crawford while attending the premiere of her new movie Shell at the 2024 Toronto International Film Festival on Thursday evening (September 12).
The 23-year-old model and actress walked the red carpet outside the Princess of Wales Theatre wearing a white bodycon bandage dress with a sweetheart neckline.
If it looks familiar, that’s because it’s a recreation of the dress that her mom wore on the red carpet at the Oscars in 1993!

“Kaia had sent me a mood board for TIFF and this was one of her references,” her stylist Molly Dickson told Vogue. “I thought it would be amazing to pay tribute to Cindy’s iconic moment.”
That’s not where the tribute ends, either. Kaia even borrowed her mom’s jewelry to complete the look.
She was joined at the event by many of her equally stylish costars, including Kate Hudson. Elizabeth Berkley, Este Haim, Arian Moayed, Amy Landecker, Blake Lee and Lionel Boyce and director Max Minghella were also present. We’ve got photos of everyone in the gallery!
Here’s a synopsis of the movie from TIFF’s website: “If you could restore youthful beauty and guarantee longevity by committing to a few days of mysterious treatments, would you? Would you trust your life and health to science and technology that might be more hype than healthy? Samantha (Elisabeth Moss) is thinking it over. She’s a slightly unkempt, earnest, talented actress who can’t seem to nail the jobs she wants, and both her confidence and bank account are shrinking. She also looks slightly older than her competition, so at the prompting of her agent and the numerous neon billboards touting its miraculous outcomes, Samantha commits to a treatment from Shell. It’s a success and the result is a glowing, more invigorated Samantha with a new lease on life. Enter Zoe Shannon (Kate Hudson) the glamorous CEO of Shell, the living embodiment of her products. Zoe offers to take Samantha on as a protégé and soon the actress’s star starts to rise. But Samantha also starts to get suspicious about missing friend Chloe (Kaia Gerber), some unusual symptoms she started exhibiting, and what might truly be going on in the laboratories of Shell. Samantha’s suspicions and Zoe’s paranoia escalate into a frantic cat-and-mouse game that climaxes in a high-stakes confrontation with surprising results.”
