Manchester indie band hint they’ve landed Oasis support act role for reunion and admit they’ll be heading to Heaton Park
THE Courteeners have fuelled speculation they will be supporting Oasis on tour in 2025.
Frontman Liam Fray said the band will “100% be there” when the Manchester rockers play Heaton park after dropping a series of other hints over the last few weeks.

“Listen, they could ask whoever they want – it’s still going to be amazing.”
Asked if he knew about the reunion, he told NME: “Not really. I didn’t know about the Blossoms advert, any of that – and I’m good pals with them. It was all kept very secretive.
“I always thought they would [reunite]… but when you hear it, you’re like, ‘F**king hell, this is big.’ It made me feel young again.
“I’ve been in France for two weeks, and I was listening to ‘Definitely Maybe’ on the way back. I got off that train feeling 10 feet tall – that’s what Oasis does to you. I was quite emotional about it.”
Not only are the Courteneers heavily inspired by the Britpop legends, but Liam is also pals with his Oasis namesake.
Liam G handpicked Liam F to play chief support at his Malta Weekender festival which will take place next month.
And as Oasis announced their comeback, The Courteeners walked onto the stage at Victorious Festival in Portsmouth, to Oasis anthem Morning Glory – something they haven’t done at previous gigs.
A source said: “When the band walked out to Morning Glory over the weekend it was great for hyping up the crowd.
“But then when the Oasis reunion was announced on Tuesday everything suddenly made sense.
“Courteeners couldn’t be a better pick for a support act if it really was a cheeky hint – especially if they play with them at Heaton Park.
“Maybe the two Liams could do a song together? That would be mega.”
Bookies certainly seem to think the band, who are best known for single Not Nineteen Forever, will play a part in the tour and have them at 2/1 to support.
