Jennifer Metcalfe reveals ‘financial pressure’ of Hollyoaks cutbacks saying she’s struggling as a single mum
JENNIFER Metcalfe has opened up on the ‘financial pressure’ of Hollyoaks as a single mum.
The star – who plays legendary character Mercedes McQueen – has survived the huge cast cull by bosses.

She told the Daily Star: “The show changing has brought some financial pressure.
“I’m a single parent looking after a little boy. It’s been a tricky time.”
Jennifer, 41, added: “I’ve been on the show for 20 years and the reason I’ve signed every year is because it’s like a family.
“There has always been such a buzz around on set.”
Jennifer first joined Hollyoaks in 2006, making her the longest-serving cast member following Stephanie Warring’s axe.
We recently told how Jennifer had signed to remain on Hollyoaks as it goes into its new era.
An insider previously said: “There has been a lot of speculation about who will be staying on the show and fans will be relieved that Jen is among them.
“She been such a big part of the soap for so long and there are still loads of storylines that could work for her.
“It’s great news for Jen – she really loves being part of the show.”
