Bears predictions: Week 2 at Texans

0

The Sun-Times’ experts offer their picks for the Bears' "Sunday Night Football" game in Houston:

Rick Morrissey

Texans, 27-21: Caleb Williams will be better than he was last week, which, OK, isn't saying much. But he won't be better than C.J. Stroud, whose rookie season last year is supposed to be the template for Williams' rookie season. Last week: 1-0.

Rick Telander

Texans, 28-21: The Texans’ defense is good, and Stroud won’t fling the football around like a Nerf ball ala Will Levis. Williams has to do something. Might be too soon to ask. Last week: 1-0.

Scoop Jackson

Texans, 22-19: If the Bears come into this game as unprepared as they did last week for the Titans defense, especially in the Texans' home opener, then Stroud is going to be the least of their worries. #JoeMixonisaproblem. Last week: 1-0.

Patrick Finley

Texans, 20-17 (OT): Mixon averaged 5.3 yards per carry on 30 rushes last week. Only one player averaged that many yards on at least 30 carries in a game all last season — the Colts' Jonathan Taylor. The Bears' defense will handle Mixon better. Last week: 1-0.

Jason Lieser

Texans, 26-19: Williams will be better than he was in his debut -- How could he not be? -- but this is too steep a climb in competition this early. It's also going to be very difficult for the Bears' defense to contain Stroud and his cast of weapons. Last week: 1-0.

Mark Potash

Texans, 20-13: Williams and the Bears’ offense should be improved in Week 2. But they have a long way to go, and a tough chore in prime-time in the Texans’ home opener — with Keenan Allen and Rome Odunze banged up. Last week: 1-0.
