Gamers in shock after PS5 Pro accessory sells out before the console even launches

PLAYSTATION has just unveiled the long-anticipated PS5 Pro, and while we knew it was in the works, it wasn’t at all what we expected.

It comes with more than double the storage space of the original console and can run games with Graphics Mode fidelity at Performance Mode’s framerate.

However, potential buyers were most shocked by the missing features rather than the new and improved ones.

The PlayStation 5 Pro will be the most expensive console yet, costing £700/$700 while missing two major components that were included with the PS5’s first release.

Users will have to purchase the vertical stand and disc drive separately, components that were first sold when the PS5 Slim launched.

In particular, the disc drives cost an additional £100/$80, making it a large additional cost for those who own physical games.

This isn’t to mention the fact that the PS5 Slim is unstable without the disc drive attached, meaning that digital-only users had to purchase the vertical stand.

We’ve seen disc drives phased out in recent years, with most modern laptops no longer including one in the design.

Both the PS5 and the Xbox Series launched with a digital-only and disc-based version.

The digital-only Xbox Series S sold significantly more than the Xbox Series X with the disc drive, but it was also available at a much more affordable price.

PlayStation has revealed two more versions of the PS5 since then: the PS5 Slim and now the PS5 Pro, both with disc drives that can be purchased separately.

However, the PS5 Slim could be bought with the removable drive in the box, so the PS5 Pro is the first time a console has been offered with no option but to purchase it separately.

It has been just a few days since the Pro was announced and already people have noticed that the PS5 disc drives are beginning to sell out.

In the US in particular, where the PS5 Pro will sell for a much cheaper price than other regions, major retailers have run out of stock on the disc drive.

The PS5 Pro’s price point was much higher than expected and many believed that it would fail to be successful because of it.

However, the recent rush to purchase the disc drives could show that players are interested in the Pro, and that they still want to play physical games.
