ICC Suspected to Dismiss this Indian Venue for Long Periods- Details

0

The historic one-off Test between Afghanistan and New Zealand had not seen a single ball being bowled in four days. Consistent rain, poor drainage, and lack of resource did not allow the game to continue. As a result, the game on Day 4 was called off on the morning of September 12. Even the ground staff was unable to cover the entire ground in order to save it from consistent rainfall.

The ICC Pitch and Outfield Monitoring Process applies to all the venues who hold any match. After each match, the referee has the job of completing the Pitch and Outfield Reports form and then send it to ICC Senior Cricket Operations Manager, which will include comments on the pitch and outfield from the captains o two teams who played and the umpires who have officiated in specific matches. This is going to be followed to review the Noida stadium as well.

The Match Referee has caused the pitch and/or outfield as ‘unsatisfactory’ or ‘unfit’, demerit points will be given on the venue as stated on the venue as stated in the guidelines for rating pitches and outfields. 1 demerit point will be given to the venue if it is rated unfit and the demerit points will go up to 3. If a venue gets 6 or more demerit points, it will lose its rights to host an international match.

The demerit points remain active for 5 years and if a venue gets 6 points in that period, it will be suspended for 12 months. If the points reach 12, it will be suspended for 2 years.

There might be chances ICC referee may give demerit points to both the pitch and ground, so this process will be followed to give demerit points to Noida stadium. If it gets declared unfit with 6 points, the venue will be suspended. There are also chances of referees menti0oning about the basic facilities and resources in the reports.
