Structure fire
victim identified

A woman who died during a house fire in Mill Valley was identified this week.

Jodie Lynn Price, 51, of Mill Valley was unable to escape the Sept. 2 fire, which was reported at around 12:30 a.m. on Alta Vista Road, the county coroner’s office said. Another occupant fled from the building, the coroner’s office said.

Price was found dead in a rear bedroom of the 1,192-square foot house, according to an official with the Southern Marin Fire Protection District.

The fire was contained within 20 minutes and was extinguished by 1:09 a.m., Battalion Chief Travis Fox said after the fire.

SAN RAFAEL

Firefighters douse
outbuilding fire

A fire broke out in a backyard structure at a San Rafael home early Wednesday.

Firefighters were called around 5:20 a.m. to the incident at 5 Graceland Drive. San Rafael fire Deputy Chief Robert Sinnott said that a resident and arriving firefighters quickly extinguished the fire.

The fire did not damage the nearby house or burn any vegetation, Sinnott said.

The cause is under investigation.

Police to hold
speed tech class

The San Rafael Police Department will hold a course on LIDAR/RADAR speed-detection technology this month.

Classes will be held from 6-8 p.m. Sept. 18 and 10 a.m. to noon on Sept. 22 at the San Rafael Police Department, 1375 Fifth Ave.

The educational events are financed by a grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety.

hosts forums

The Coalition of Sensible Taxpayers will host two election webinars this month.

Candidates competing for the District 2 supervisor seat will be featured on Sept. 17. Candidates running for two seats on the Marin Municipal Water District will be presented on Sept. 18. Both sessions begin at 7 p.m.
