Woman caught at airport with French ID

A 27-year-old was arrested on Wednesday in Paphos in connection with a case of impersonation.

Police said that on Wednesday at 4am a woman of African origin presented a French ID at Paphos airport to travel to France.

The officer on duty noticed that, although the ID was genuine, the woman did not match the photo.

When questioned, the 27-year-old admitted she was an asylum applicant from Congo.

She was arrested for impersonation and charged before the Paphos district court.

The woman will remain in custody until her hearing on October 11.
