India vs Bangladesh second Test venue to be shifted from Kanpur?
A senior BCCI official has confirmed that the second Test between India and Bangladesh will be played at Kanpur despite several threats of protests, according to a report by India Today. The 2 teams are set to face each other at Green Park in Kanpur on September 27.
There were some concerns after a threat was issued by Hindu Mahasabha regarding protests against the Bangladesh cricket team in response to alleged violence against Hindus in Bangladesh. However, a BCCI source has now confirmed that they are not looking for alternate venues and the match will take place as planned.
“Yes, we are monitoring and with the concerned authorities as far as those threats are concerned but we have done everything to hold that match and stadium is ready to welcome our and visitors and said it’s not going anywhere it will be in Kanpur but will keep monitoring the situation not only in Kanpur but also at the other venues,” the source told India Today.
Meanwhile, Bangladesh wicketkeeper-batter Litton Das revealed that the team is trying to get used to the SG ball. This will be a big challenge for them as they are used to playing with the Kookaburra ball in the international matches which are held at their home. They also played with the Kookaburra ball in the recently concluded Test series against Pakistan.
However, the Indian team uses SG ball which is very different from the Kookaburra and brings a different set of challenges with it.
“The ball will be a different one in India. It is a little harder to play against the SG ball. The Kookaburra ball is easier to play when it gets old. It is the opposite with the SG ball. It is harder to get away against the old ball when it’s the SG,” Das said, as quoted by ESPNcricinfo.
