Lafayette man killed in vehicle-pedestrian crash
ST. LANDRY PARISH, La. (KLFY) -- A 23-year-old Lafayette man died Sunday evening after being struck by a vehicle on La. Highway 31 in Arnaudville, according to Louisiana State Police.
State police said the crash claimed the life of Denzel Flugence.
According to a news release, the crash occurred around 8 p.m. Sunday on La. Hwy 31 near Melanie Lane.
A 2002 Chevrolet Tahoe was driving north on the highway when it struck Flugence, "who was in the roadway," state police said.
Flugence suffered fatal injuries. He was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash.
The driver of the Tahoe was properly restrained and uninjured, police said.
The driver of the Tahoe was not impaired, state police determined. Toxicology samples were taken from Flugence and submitted for analysis, police said.
The crash remains under investigation.
