India's new $52.8 million submarine shield: How this new tech can fortify the nation's waters against growing Chinese forays
India is strengthening its naval defenses with the acquisition of 500 advanced sonobuoys from the United States for $52.8 million, intended to counter rising submarine threats in the Indian Ocean. The sonobuoys, compatible with India’s Sikorsky MH-60R helicopters, will significantly enhance anti-submarine warfare (ASW) capabilities. Approved during Defence Minister Rajnath Singh’s visit to Washington DC, this move comes as India responds to growing Chinese naval presence in the region.
