#RapplerEats: Are you looking for your next Latin food spot?

0

Señor Pollo prides itself on its take on roasted chicken, but there is so much more to the restaurant than that. Its wide selection of delicious Latin dishes and unique beverages, plus its homey vibe make it a great spot to unwind and enjoy great food with friends and family.

We recently visited Señor Pollo in Greenhills Connecticut Arcade to get a taste of some of their bestsellers. We started with their bar bites or appetizers consisting of their Jalepeño and Cheese Quesadilla, Jalapeño Croquetas, and Dinamita with Mexican Dip that packs a spicy kick of flavors.

We were also served their refreshing Taco Cobb Salad and one of the team’s favorites, the hearty Chunky Chicken Tortilla Soup. Last on the bar bites lineup was their Crispy Chicken Sisig which goes perfectly well with their in-house drinks.

Speaking of drinks, the team got to taste their chilling Green Mango Passion Fruit Shake, Agua Fresca for the cucumber lovers out there, the Colladas las Prutas that give you a burst of fruity goodness, and the Dirty Horchata, that’s Horchata mixed with a bit of Bacardi and Kahlua making you go ooohh la la.

As we finished our bar bites, the main stars of the show quickly captured our attention. The Señor Pollo Combo. It includes half of their juicy roasted chicken and four pieces of their crispy fried chicken, accompanied by four sides and some of their signature sauces.

The Roasted Chicken was charred to perfection and was filled with a mix of delicious flavors and spices. The chicken also took on a whole new level once you pair it with their sauces ranging from garlic sauce, chimichurri, atomic (spicy) sauce, Mexican sauce, and the chicken staple, gravy. Señor Pollo Executive Chef Jacqueline Yap even suggested blending the sauces together to bring out a flavor bomb you won’t forget.

THE SEÑOR POLLO COMBO. This combo includes half of its signature roasted chicken and fried chicken that comes with four sides—all for just P980.

The Fried Chicken also went toe to toe with their Roasted Chicken, boasting a crunchy exterior while maintaining its juicy goodness inside. The sides were also a perfect match with their chicken, which included their Spicy and Cilantro Garlic Rice, Sweet and Garlic Mashed Potatoes, Fried Plantains, Elote (Mexican street corn), and Columbian Beans.

We also got to try the One Pounder Carne Asada, which was served on an actual weighing scale! This is one dish you most certainly can’t pass on. It’s a complete meal in itself and they didn’t skimp on the servings.

SEÑOR POLLO’S 1LB BURRITO. The 1LB Carne Asada Burrito (P690) is surely big on flavor with steak, rice, veggies all in a huge wrap.

Our trip to Señor Pollo wouldn’t be complete without tasting their new line up of desserts. The crunchy Fried Toblerone with Vanilla Ice Cream offered a new twist of texture and flavor that drifts apart from your regular Toblerone chocolate. We also enjoyed the Mango Cheesecake Flautas which had a crispy exterior from the mango cheesecake roll bursting with both sweet and salty flavors, perfect for those who love a hint of umami in their dessert. Finally, we loved the Tipsy Coffee Jelly which was served in an uneven glass, making the dessert tip over from one side to the other. It had a slight bitter coffee flavor from the espresso jelly and coffee liqueur balanced by its sweet coffee cream and a hint of cherry flavor!

SWEET TREATS AT SEÑOR POLLO. (Clockwise) Fried Toblerone (P205), Mango Cheesecake Flautas (P205), and Tipsy Coffee Jelly (P185).

The overall experience left the team with happy hearts and an even happier stomach. Señor Pollo is a must-go-to-place for those who want to hang out with friends for a couple of snacks and drinks or enjoy a hefty and heart-warming meal with their family!
