SEVENTEEN’s Jeonghan to enlist in military on September 26

MANILA, Philippines – Jeonghan of K-pop boy group SEVENTEEN will be starting his military service on September 26.

The group’s agency PLEDIS Entertainment made the announcement on Thursday, September 12, through a statement released on fan community platform Weverse.

The label also asked fans to refrain from visiting the site of his military service as there will be no official event on the day of enlistment.

PLEDIS Entertainment added that while Jeonghan will no longer be able to take part in SEVENTEEN’s upcoming 12th mini-album and 17 RIGHT HERE world tour, there are some various pre-recorded content that will be released which will include him. Aside from Jeonghan, the agency also earlier announced that Jun won’t be able to participate in these promotional groups activities as he will have solo activities in China.

“We ask for your continued love and support for the artist. Kindly send your best wishes for his safe and healthy return,” PLEDIS Entertainment added.

Jeonghan will be the first member of SEVENTEEN to enlist in the military.

It was confirmed in March that the group’s leader S.coups will be exempted from military service due to his knee surgery. The rapper underwent anterior cruciate ligament reconstruction surgery and anterolateral ligament reconstruction surgery in August 2023.

SEVENTEEN made its debut in May 2015 under PLEDIS Entertainment. The group is known for hits like “HOT,” “Don’t Wanna Cry,” “Super” and “Aju Nice,” among others.

The 13-piece act was last in the Philippines in January for its two-day Follow concert at the Philippine Sports Stadium in Bulacan.

SEVENTEEN was also appointed as the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization’s Goodwill Ambassador for Youth in June. – Rappler.com
