A WOMAN recorded a toddler shooting an abducted man who owed £19,000 to a crime mob on her mobile phone.

Elaine Currie, 39, cheered on the two-year-old girl after she fired at Scott McCran at a property in Wishaw, Lanarkshire, on June 26 2023.

McCran had earlier been abducted by Currie’s then partner Ross Al-Gailani – a gangland enforcer jailed for 16 years in May this year.

McCran had owed an organised crime group £19,000 which he lost due to gambling.

The High Court in Glasgow was told that McCran was “assaulted and abducted due to the lost cash.

He was subsequently “abducted” by Al-Gailani who detained him against his will at the Wishaw property on June 25.

Currie, of Hamilton, Lanarkshire, attended the property the next day with the young girl who was in her care.

Prosecutor John McElroy KC said: “She became aware of how McCran came to be at the property and joined Al-Gailani in depriving their victim of his liberty.

“This was in so far as she permitted the girl to discharge a firearm towards McCran while he was detained and unable to leave.

“Al-Gailani instructed the girl to shoot McCran on the backside which child complied with and discharged the firearm.

“During the detention of McCran, Currie recorded video footage of the girl being held by Al-Gailani and discharging the firearm.

“Thereafter, Currie, Al-Gailani and the girl cheered.”

Currie and Al-Gailani are later heard to say: “Put your guns up b****.”

Currie pled guilty today to a single charge of abducting McCran.

Tony Graham KC, defending, told the court that his client had been in a short-term relationship with Al-Gilani which became abusive.

The advocate added: “Having given momentary care of the girl to him, Miss Currie visited the toilet then found her on his knee and sat up.

“As she saw someone with a weapon, she didn’t feel she was in a position to confront but this was not legal coercion as the test for that is so high.”

It was also revealed that Currie had undergone cancer treatment and is currently pregnant.

Judge Lord Fairley said: “It appears to me that your actions on this day can be described as colossal stupidity.

“In rather exceptional circumstances, I will view this as a hiatus to what has otherwise been a stable pro-social life you are now living.

“Notwithstanding the very serious nature of the offences, I will admonish you.

“You will have a record but stay out of trouble please.”

Currie was visibly emotional in the dock as were people sat in the public gallery.
