Watch: Trump waffles when asked about debate rematch with Kamala Harris
Former President Donald Trump claimed victory in Tuesday night's presidential debate against Vice President Kamala Harris when confronted by reporters — but then he repeatedly went back and forth on whether he was open to having another one.
Trump made the remarks while visiting Shanksville, Pennsylvania, the location where the fourth plane on the September 11 terrorist attacks crashed after passengers overpowered the hijackers.
"We're looking at it, but, you know, when you win, you don't necessarily have to do it a second time," said Trump. "We had a — I thought we had a great debate last night."
Asked whether he would need any rule changes or format changes in order to definitively agree to a second debate, Trump said, "Well, you know, when you don't win, it's like a fighter. When a fighter has a bad fight, gets knocked out or loses the fight, the first thing he says is, we want a rematch. So we won the debate according to every poll, every single poll. I think that, are we going to do a rematch? I just don't know. I'll think about it."

"I would do NBC, I'd do Fox too," added Trump, when reminded that he already agreed to an NBC debate later this month. "But right now, we have to determine whether or not we want to do — we had a great night last night. And you see by the poll numbers, it was really fantastic."
It's unclear what polls Trump is referring to; preliminary surveys conducted after the debate largely showed viewers believed Harris was the winner. Meanwhile, political observers were shocked by Trump's repeated fumbles in the debate as he fought with the moderators, made several false claims about migrants, the economy, abortion, and several other topics, and visibly grew flustered and angry as Harris criticized his record.
