Acclaimed Indian entrepreneurs, Mukesh Ambani of Reliance Industries Ltd and Gautam Adani of Adani Group find themselves positioned at a high 11th and 12th in the world wealth ranking order. Their impressive individual net worth stands at a staggering $115 billion and $104 billion respectively.

Jeff Bezos, who came into the world in 1964, is one of the best minds in the universe, who was also behind the establishment of Amazon as a dominant player on the global front. Talking about his work discipline, Jeff inherited from the best qualities of handwork and sincerity from his father, which fueled his commitment and helped him in his tireless efforts, thus pushing Amazon to incredible heights of success and elevating Bezos to the ranks of the richest people on the globe.

Earlier this week, the world’s billionaires collectively felt their wallets lighten by a staggering US$134 billion. Jeff Bezos, founder of Amazon, suffered the most, his vast fortune shrinking by US$15.2 billion, or approximately Rs 1,27,320 crores, in just 24 hours. A major crash in Amazon’s share value, the worst in two years, was the culprit. Consequently, Bezos’s current wealth now rests at a still spectacular Rs 15,84,128 crores.

Early Life of Jeff Bezos

Jeff Bezos’ early life was not without its hurdles; his parents split when he was only a little over a year old. His mom, thrown into the role of a single parent, worked tirelessly to bring up young Jeff before getting remarried. His stepdad, Miguel Bezos, obtained his college degree and took up a career in engineering, fostering a more stable environment for their family.

Back in ’94, Bezos envisioned that the internet possessed a promising marketplace for selling goods. From his own home, he laid the groundwork for what would come to be known as Amazon, primarily emphasizing on book sales. Gradually, he expanded to include a vast product line. Despite a wave of doubt and skepticism, Bezos held his ground. True to his determination, Amazon underwent a remarkable transformation into a corporate giant.

In 2021, Bezos decided to pass on the mantle of Amazon’s CEO after successfully launching various initiatives that massively grew the company. While Bezos continues to be the proprietor of Amazon, his energies are now pitched towards other endeavors, with climate change related efforts being a key priority.
