U-19 Women’s T20 Asia Cup Set to Debut: Asian Cricket Council Announces New Tournament

0

The first-ever Women’s U-19 T20 Asia Cup was announced by Asian Cricket Council President Jay Shah on Wednesday. The competition will take place every two years and act as a training ground for the colts T20 World Cup.

The choice was made during an ACC Executive Board meeting that Shah chaired. Shah will assume the role of ICC chairman on December 1.

This competition intends to provide vital experience and preparation by providing rising female cricketers in Asia with a worldwide platform to compete on, thereby improving Asian teams’ performance on the global scene.

This innovative project will also be vital in raising women’s cricket’s profile in the area and contributing to its further expansion and appeal.

In keeping with its steadfast commitment to advancing gender equality and developing cricket talent at all levels, the ACC has created a structured pathway for young female cricketers for the first time in its history.

“Asian cricket is at a turning point right now. The Women’s U19 Asia Cup is a huge accomplishment that has given young female cricket players a much-needed stage on which to hone their abilities and display their brilliance.

“This initiative strengthens the future of women’s cricket in Asia, and we are proud of the lasting impact these decisions will have, not only within our member nations but across the global cricketing community,” added Shah.
