The IDF said it was investigating the tragedy as the helicopter came crashing down just moments before it was supposed to land.

The UH-60 Black Hawk from the 123rd Squadron was sent to Gaza alongside a Unit 669 medical team on Tuesday night but failed to touch down.

The two victims were identified as Daniel Alloush, 37, from Tel Aviv and Tom Ish-Shalom, 38, from Nes Harim.

The IDF said: “An initial inquiry… indicates that the crash was not caused by enemy fire… Two IDF (Israeli) soldiers were killed as a result of the cars.

The statement added that the seven injured had been transfered to hospital for treatment.

The military said it was investigating the cause of the crash, which occurred when the helicopter was landing near the southern city of Rafah.

Among those seriously injured, there were two pilots and a mechanic with the IAF’s 123rd Squadron, a reservist doctor and another soldier with Unit 669.

A doctor and another mechanic with the 123rd Squadron were also injured in the crash, the IDF said.
