EMMERDALE viewers previously watched Moira Barton accidentally set fire to the barn on the ITV soap.

And now another Emmerdale actress may have accidentally let slip that her character survived the dramatic stunt.

Beth Cordingly, 47, has played Ruby Fox-Milligan on Emmerdale since she joined the soap in January this year.

Recent scenes showed her confronting Moira (Natalie J.Robb) who was trying to drown herself with farm work.

This was after her estranged husband Caleb (William Ash) spotted Moira kissing her step-son Nate (Jurell Carter).

When they came face to face in the barn, Moira instead thought that Ruby was Emma Barton (Gillian Kearney), whom she previously killed.

Emma died when Moira pushed her off a cliff after she blamed her for the death of her daughter Holly (Sophie Powles).

Moira grabbed her gun in a panic as the ghost of Emma started to taunt her in her mind.

This led her to accidentally shoot down one of the hanging lights as Ruby unsuccessfully tried to get her to calm down.

Ruby then tried to wrestle the gun out of Moira’s hands, but she fought back and knocked her out.

In their physical fight, Moira threw her canister of petrol to the ground, and the sparks from the broken electrical light quickly started a blaze.

With the doors locked and bolted by Moira and Ruby bleeding from the head, the fate of the pair remains unknown.

But despite the cliffhanger, Beth has hinted that her character will survive the barn fire.

After her summer break, the actress posted a boomerang video of herself drinking a gin and tonic cocktail.

This was whilst she relaxed on a train as she revealed that she was returning back to work.

The short clip was emblazoned with a caption that read: “Had a lovely few days with my angels by the sea.”

Moira Barton's biggest Emmerdale storylines

Played by Natalie J. Robb, Moira has become one of Emmerdale's most prominent characters since her debut in 2009.

AFFAIR WITH CAIN DINGLE

In October 2011, Moira began an affair with Cain Dingle (Jeff Hordley), whom she had previously loathed.

At the time, she was married to first husband and childhood sweetheart John (James Thornton).

JOHN’S DEATH

In the characters’ backstory, John and Moira had been married since 1990. They shared three children: Adam, Hannah (now Matty) and Holly.

While John struggled to forgive Moira’s infidelity, he also realised he couldn’t live without her.

Ultimately, the character of John was written out by having a car accident and fatal cardiac arrest.

Afterwards, Moira and Cain began a relationship and later married.

ADAM’S PATERNITY

It transpired that Cain was not the first man that Moira had an affair with.

She previously slept with John’s brother James (Bill Ward) – with the revelation that he is her son Adam’s biological father.

MURDER OF EMMA BARTON

James’ estranged wife Emma (Gillian Kearney) was introduced as a soap villain, reuniting with her clan after two decades.

In October 2017, Emma was killed off in a who-dunnit storyline after being pushed off a viaduct.

She reappeared one last time in December 2017 for a flashback, where her killer was revealed to be archenemy Moira.

Beth added: “Back to work now. Cheers,” along with the clinking glasses emoji.

The actress then seemed to further confirm that she will film more scenes for the long-running serial drama with a set of hashtags as the caption.

They read: “#BackToWork #gin #fyp #mumsofinstagram.”
