Two hospitalized after 'small' explosion at food truck at Kansas State Fair

HUTCHINSON, Kan. (KSNW) — Officials are investigating a fire at a concession trailer at the Kansas State Fair that sent two people to the hospital.

Kansas State Fair director Brian Schulz said in a news release at 6:25 p.m. crews from the Hutchinson Fire Department were called to the fairgrounds.

They arrived on the scene at 6:28 p.m. to find a food truck that appeared to have had a small explosion. Two people were transported to a local hospital with injuries.

Several others sustained minor injuries and refused treatment.

A Hutchinson firefighter told KSN a can was on or near the grill and it exploded, which caused the glass windows to shatter.

The HFD Fire Marshal, in collaboration with State Fire Marshals, are currently investigating the cause of the incident.
