MANILA, Philippines – Jema Galanza returned looking very much in sync with the Creamline offense, scoring a game-high 13 points for the final-bound Cool Smashers in a 25-15, 25-13, 25-19 smothering of the Farm Fresh Foxies in the PVL Invitational Conference on Wednesday, September 11, at the PhilSports Arena in Pasig.

Galanza, who recently wrapped up her national team duties with Alas Pilipinas, was fielded in the second set, immediately scoring 3 points in succession.

More importantly, the Creamline star has a chance to help the the team clinch the league’s first-ever Grand Slam.

“We’re already thankful that we finished the game cleanly and efficiently… we need to rest first and recover, since tomorrow is really important,” Galanza said after the game.

“We have no time to prepare, so we just need to recover and scout our opponents individually,” she added.

Creamline will go up against the winner of the Cignal HD Spikers-Kurashiki Ablaze tussle at 6 pm on Wednesday.

The knockout championship game is set on Thursday, September 12, at 6 pm at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.

With the Cool Smashers’ win, the Foxies missed a chance to fight for a podium finish.

Import Asaka Tamaru topscored with 10 points for the Foxies, who ended their stint with a 0-4 record in the weeklong invitationals tournament.

Est Cola of Thailand secured a seat in the bronze-medal game, and will face the loser of the Cignal-Kurashiki nightcap. — Rappler.com
