‘One of the best ever’ – Dominic Solanke hails ‘incredible’ Tottenham legend
Dominic Solanke is Tottenham’s new striker and he will be expected to provide plenty of goals. He has pretty big boots to fill, too, and he has now been praising his predecessor, Harry Kane.
Harry Kane is an incredible finisher
Spurs fans had to wait a whole year to see their club finally replace Kane, and the £65m signing of Solanke has invited a degree of pressure on the 26-year-old.
Things didn’t get off to an ideal start for Solanke, though, picking up an injury in a goalless debut performance and he has now missed the last two games.
He’s due back at the weekend for the North London derby, a fixture Kane knows all about. Speaking ahead of the big game, Solanke was asked who the best finisher he has ever played with is, and he unsurprisingly named Tottenham’s all-time leading goalscorer.
Solanke told Sky Sports Premier League: “Obviously, Harry Kane. His finishing is just one of the best ever. We see that all the time. His finishing is just incredible.”
Simply the best
It’s hard to argue against Kane’s credentials. The former Spurs man netted 280 goals for the club, and is now the second-highest goalscorer in Premier League history.
He has shown he can do it abroad, too, with a huge goal haul in his first season with Bayern Munich. And, Kane is also comfortably England’s top goalscorer, too.
Amidst criticism this week, Kane silenced his doubters by netting another two goals for England on his 100th cap – making it 68 goals in all competitions for the Three Lions.
The talismanic striker is capable of scoring all kinds of goals, from long-range efforts, cool finishes in the box, and headed goals.
Spurs Web Opinion
I have never seen a better finisher than Kane, personally, so it’s no surprise that Solanke has picked him for this.
Hopefully, Solanke can emulate even a quarter of Kane’s success in front of goal with Spurs and be the striker we need right now.
