‘I’ve got a squillion hats!’ Davina McCall hints at My Mum Your Dad marriage as series two launches on ITV1
DAVINA McCall has admitted that she is expecting marriage to blossom off the back of My Mum, Your Dad as she gears up to host a brand new series.
The series became a runaway hit when it launched on ITV last year with the former Big Brother host at the helm.

Last year’s show winners Roger and Janey are still together with Davina admitting she is hoping for wedding bells…
“I’ve got a squillion hats on standby!” she laughs. “I would be offended if they didn’t invite me.”
Unlike in the last series when the participants had been nominated by the kids who secretly watched all the action, both the parents and their offspring know how the show works now.
But it’s still emotional from the off, and in episode one, a single dad shares how his marriage broke down when he cheated on his wife.
“He strayed and then fell in love with somebody, and then she strayed,” reveals Davina, 56.
“He felt that he was such a bad person that this was karma. But this guy is a great dad and a very nice guy. His child doesn’t blame him.
“His son loves his dad and understands that these things happen. But his dad was lonely. You’ll see how he blossoms in the retreat. It’s amazing.”
New features this year include a steamy Ghost-style pottery workshop and a snug where the midlifers can get to know each other better with a cut-off switch on the cameras.
“We’ve got a lot more workshops,” says Davina.
“I was thinking: ‘If I was single, I would pay to go to that retreat’ because you know it is going to be full of people like you. Single people who want to find someone nice and want to learn something about themselves.
“It’s not even necessarily about meeting somebody on the retreat, it’s about prepping yourself to meet somebody. Of turning into a person that will let someone in and will work to be with someone.”
It’s clear hearing Davina’s passion for My Mum Your Dad that she’s the ideal host for the show.
“I don’t see there is any point doing a show if you are not going to absolutely chuck yourself into it. That is what I do,” she smiles.
“I do understand that I am like Marmite – I appreciate that my enthusiasm can be quite annoying for some people.
“Some people love it, others can’t stand it. But I can’t do anything about it. It’s just here. I would look weird if I was trying to hold in my enthusiasm.
“People would be like: ‘What’s happened to Davina?’ I’d be looking like I needed to do a poo!”
