“There is no way…”: Michael Vaughan slams England team after loss to Sri Lanka

Former England skipper Michael Vaughan was extremely critical of the current Test side after their loss in the third and final Test of the series against Sri Lanka at the Oval. The Three Lions were outplayed by the Lankan Lions who went on to win their first Test on England soil in 10 years.

Vaughan believes that the England team disrespected Test cricket and Sri Lanka by placing an over-aggressive field set-up and also by not going with their usual ‘Bazball’ approach.

“I felt that they disrespected Test cricket and disrespected Sri Lanka in the third Test by being over-aggressive with both bat and in their field placings,” Vaughan wrote in his column for The Telegraph.

“England have made a bit of a habit of becoming a bit complacent after a good period, I think of the start of the Ashes, or earlier this year in Rajkot and I hope it serves as a wake-up call for the tougher Tests that lie in wait in 2025,” Vaughan added.

Vaughan also went on to say that this type of cricket will not help them in winning matches against tough sides like Australia and India.

“There is no way they will get away with playing like this against India or Australia,” Vaughan said.
