Guilderland parents react to return of student who made past threat
GUILDERLAND, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- It was a mixed reaction from parents at Guilderland's Board of Education meeting Tuesday night. They discussed the return of a student from Farnsworth Middle School who had made threats against the school last year.
Recent events nationally have stoked fears among those who spoke.
The district said it has a safety plan. Though they couldn't share exact specifics, they did share a preview of it.
"But it does provide, in-part, increased supervision by adults," Guilderland Superintendent Dr. Marie Wiles said. "Conversations have occurred with several parents who have contacted the district during which we assured them of the existence of a safety plan. However, we are constrained by law not to discuss anymore details or specifics of this particular student's situation."
The district said it will continue to collaborate with law enforcement to provide a safe learning experience for all.
