Kids to release butterflies at Kansas Children's Discovery Center
TOPEKA (KSNT) - Children will soon be able to release their own monarch butterfly into the wild.
Sept. 10-13, the Kansas Children's Discovery Center (KCDC) is partnering with Topeka's Green Pest Solutions to celebrate bug week, and invite area families to join the organizations. According to a news release from Green Pest Solutions, it will partner with the KCDC to have Bug Week activities and educational sessions at the Discovery Center to teach kids about how bugs are essential to the environment.
The week of education will wrap up with a monarch butterfly release. Along with the release of some butterflies, Green Pest Solution will give a $2,000 check from the company's recent Bug Feast fundraiser to the KCDC. At 4 p.m. Friday, Sept. 13, children who attend the butterfly release at the KCDC will get to release their own butterfly.
