Highland Park's Robinson discusses commitment to Austin Peay
TOPEKA (KSNT) - Highland Park boys' basketball's Jacorey Robinson plans to take his talents to the next level.
Robinson has one more season with the Scots, but announced his commitment to Austin Peay State University earlier in the week via social media.
Austin Peay was the first to offer him, but Robinson was also deciding between Missouri State and Murray State. There were a few things about playing for the Governors that separated them from the pack for Robinson.
"Playing time and the way I fit into the game that they play," Robinson. "They do a lot of running, run-and-gun, fast-paced playing and that's how I like to play."
The rising senior says his current head coach, Highland Park's Michael Williams, helped mentor him through the recruiting process. Conversations with his family were also essential, Robinson said, adding he's the first athlete in his family to attend college.
"Just the success and all the hard work I've put in, I'm glad to be able to go to the next level," Robinson said. "Go Govs."
The rising senior plans to visit with coaches and tour Austin Peay's campus in late September.
