'You lie' Republican Joe Wilson hospitalized: report

A Republican lawmaker known best for shouting "You lie!" was reportedly hospitalized Tuesday night after collapsing at an event in Washington, D.C.

Rep. Joe Wilson, 77, of South Carolina was taken to a hospital and receiving treatment, a congressional aide with knowledge of the situation told NBC News. The collapse came after he was present for House votes and was reportedly joking with reporters off the floor.

Wilson has represented South Carolina in the House since 2001 and gained notoriety after shouting “you lie” at President Barack Obama during a speech to a joint session of Congress in 2009.
