Yuzvendra Chahal Dominates County Cricket with Stunning Five-Wicket Performance
In an English County Championship Division 2 encounter between Northamptonshire and Derbyshire, senior India leg-spinner Yuzvendra Chahal got five wickets for 45.
During the match, the Indian white-ball specialist achieved a personal record of 100 first-class wickets with his third five-wicket haul in first-class cricket.
The wiry leg-break bowler, who also claimed five wickets (5/14) against Kent in the One Day Cup last month, has found success in the English Summer thus far.
In the current game, Northants batted first and scored 219 runs in the opening half, with 90 runs coming from Saif Zib. In response, Derbyshire was bowled out for 165 in 61.3 overs by Chahal (5/45 in 16.3 overs) and Rob Keogh 3/65.
Jack Morley, Aneurin Donald, Wayne Madsen, Alex Thomson, and Zak Chappell were among Chahal’s victims.
With contributions of 4 and 2 in each of the two innings, Chahal’s colleague Prithvi Shaw had another disappointing red ball game. Shaw has also failed to score more than 50 in his last three first-class innings.
