How to preorder the new AirPods 4th Gen and new AirPods Max

Apple just announced its latest AirPods, and shoppers can now look forward to the AirPods 4th Generation, USB-C AirPods Max, and a hearing-health-focused update to the older AirPods Pro 2. This is an exciting development for AirPods fans, and preorders are open now to secure your own pair.

The new AirPods 4th Generation features a comfortable new redesign and a smaller case than ever. The base model uses USB-C to charge while going for the slightly pricier model allows for USB-C and wireless charging. The pricier model also features Active Noise Cancellation (ANC), an incredible feature for its open-ear format.

The AirPods Max also received an update: now they are compatible with USB-C charging and have five new colors to choose from. How to preorder the AirPods 4th Generation

Apple's new AirPods were unveiled on September 9, and preorders opened on the same day. They will become available on September 20, along with the new USB-C AirPods Max. You can find all the new models at major retailers like Amazon, Best Buy, and Apple.

With the release of a new generation of AirPods and a new set of AirPods Max colors, older models are on sale to clear out old stock. In general, the deals aren't the best — we've seen better drops during other times of the year — but the current discounts match the regular price you can often find these models for. As a rule of thumb, I recommend not paying more than the prices listed below for a pair of AirPods.
