Report: Galatasaray are eyeing a late move for Tottenham defender this week
According to Takvim, Galatasaray are plotting a shock move to sign Tottenham defender Ben Davies over the coming days.
The Turkey window is still open
While the transfer window has closed almost everywhere, it remains open in Turkey, with clubs from the Eastern European country able to sign players until Friday.
It has now emerged that they are targeting a move for Davies, whose value to the squad and character has been talked up on several occasions by Ange Postecoglou (BBC Sport).
Takvim say that Galatasaray are now planning on shifting to a back five after managing to sign Victor Osimhen on loan from Napoli.
Galatasaray like the look of Ben Davies
The Turkish club allegedly see the Tottenham defender as an ideal fit for the left centre-back role and are thus ready to push ahead with a move for him.
The outlet points out that Davies is into the final year of his contract with Spurs and thus suggests that the Premier League side may be open to cashing in on the 31-year-old.
It remains to be seen whether Postecoglou would actually be open to losing one of his most experienced squad members three games into the new season.
Spurs Web Opinion
Given that Tottenham failed to sign a defender in the summer, there is absolutely no chance that they would consider letting Davies leave.
The Welshman is crucial to the squad due to his ability to provide cover at both centre-back and left-back.
