Doubling up on opening day of teal season
Zachary Galat doubled up Saturday on opening day for teal season.
The 14-year-old bagged his first blue-winged teal on Fox Chain O'Lakes, then fished with his dad Jeff. The highlight for Zachary was a nice channel catfish.
"There wasn't a lot of teal around but he took advantage of the opportunity," Jeff emailed. "We caught plenty of white and yellow bass, but this catfish gave him quite a nice fight."
Teal season runs through Sept. 22.
I like the doubling up aspect almost as much as the father-and-son part of it.
It reminds of the spring triple down of hunting turkeys mornings, morel mushrooms afternoons, then fishing it off with fishing for crappie in the evenings.
