Lala Kent Reveals Her Second Daughter’s Eyebrow-Raising Name & the Comments Are Getting Nasty
Lala Kent is officially a mom of two! And less than 24 hours after announcing the happy news, the Vanderpump Rules star is already getting double the mom shame. This time? For the name of her second daughter.
Kent announced the birth of Baby No. 2 last week but decided to hold off on revealing her name because she didn’t want to share the news on Beyoncé’s birthday. She figured “no one would give a sh*t” and would be focused instead on the Grammy winner. “Baby S deserves her moment,” she said on her podcast, Give Them Lala, hinting at the infant’s initial.
But Queen Bey’s big day has come and gone, and now Kent is ready to share her youngest’s name. She shared a black-and-white photo of her newborn’s feet with the caption, “Sosa Kent ????.”
Sosa.
If your mind is like that of many followers, your eyebrows might have shot up. Sosa?! As in … Alejandro “Alex” Sosa, the fictional drug lord from Scarface? As in … slang for cocaine? As in … rapper Chief Keef’s nickname?
“THEM B****** LOVE SOSA,” one follower commented, referencing a line from the rapper’s song, “Love Sosa.” “first thing that came to my mind!” another person responded.
And OK! That’s fair. Immediately thinking of a well-known character or person or song (…or drug) is reasonable. What’s not reasonable is the way followers are continuing to belittle Kent and Baby Sosa. The derogatory echo chamber is ridiculous.
“Sosa??? Is she in the Colombian cartel??? Omggg ????????????????”
“Baby that’s a ❄️ reference change the name”
“Oh no! Take a page out of kylie Jenners book… its not too late to change the name! This is awful”
Are you kidding me. This is a child we’re talking about. And a new mom who was so proud and happy to share this information with the world. And the internet trolls had to tear them down. (Because of course they freakin’ did.) Telling her to change the name is so out of line.
Kent has not responded to the fights breaking out in the comments, but thankfully, there was a chorus of fans who pointed out that Sosa is a beautiful name with a beautiful meaning. According to BabyNames.com, the gender-neutral name has Portuguese origins that means “salt water.”
“Fits perfectly with big sis Ocean. ♥️,” one follower said, referencing Kent’s 4-year-old daughter who she shares with ex Randall Emmett. And we couldn’t agree more! How sweet is that to start a little tradition where each child has a water-related name?
Oh, and a reminder for the haters in the back: Even if there wasn’t a special connection, it would still be lovely and no one else’s place to speak out on. This isn’t a focus group. This isn’t “Cheelee” we’re talking about (IYKYK). So instead of hurling another insult, try this comment: “Congratulations!”
