Ben Davies is a Welsh legend

Wales earned a hard-fought draw against Turkey in Cardiff last Friday, with Davies delivering a real captain’s performance at the back, proving a real rock for the home side.

Following that result, Craig Bellamy’s men had to pick up three points on their trip to Montenegro and that is exactly what they did, with early goals from Kieffer Moore and Harry Wilson proving the difference between the two sides.

The away side just about hung on for a 2-1 win and had to deal with some nervy moments at the back towards the end, with Davies once again standing up for his side, using all his experience.

What the Welsh press are saying about Davies

The Tottenham man was handed a rating of eight out of 10 by Wales Online, who wrote about the 31-year-old: “Another really good performance. Defensively so solid again. Made a superb intervention on the line early on.”

Meanwhile, Brennan Johnson started the game on the bench and came on towards the end of the first-half in place of Conor Roberts.

Wales Online gave the Spurs winger a rating of seven out of 10 and wrote about his display: “Really lively presence in the final third.”

Spurs Web Opinion

While it is not surprising that Davies continues to be Mr. Dependable, it is a bit of a worrying sign that Johnson was left out of the starting eleven by Craig Bellamy as one would have thought that the Wales boss would want to build his attack around the Tottenham man.

It is going to be a big make-or-break season for Johnson at Tottenham you feel this year.
