Employee shot dead at Glenwood liquor store: 'He was my everything.'

A gunman walked into a south suburban liquor store and fatally shot a staffer following an argument Monday night in Glenwood.

Naveen Singh, 52, was shot about 6:45 p.m. at Emporium Liquor, 339 E. Glenwood Lansing Rd., according to Glenwood police and the Cook County medical examiner's office.

Singh's son, reached by phone Tuesday morning, was inconsolable.

"He was my everything," he said, his voice breaking. "I don't know what we're gonna do without him."

Singh, of Chicago Heights, was pronounced dead at 7:01 p.m., the medical examiner's office said. An autopsy was scheduled for Tuesday.

Police say there is no threat to the public but declined to elaborate on the attack.
