Heartbreak as mum identified bodies of her 3 children, 2 & 3, after they were found dead with dad in ‘murder-suicide’
A MUM had to identify the bodies of her three children after they were found dead with dad in a suspected murder-suicide, an inquest heard.
Twins Nikodem and Kacper Swiderski, two, and their three-year-old brother Dominik were killed on August 31.
Their bodies were discovered alongside their dad Piotr Swiderski, 31, at home in Staines, Surrey.
Surrey Police are treating the deaths of the children as murder and are not looking for anyone else in connection with the horror.
An inquest heard today how Swiderski was found hanged near to his children’s bodies.
A cause of death for the siblings is “not yet ascertained” but appears to be unnatural, the court was told.
The coroner heard how the children’s mum Angelika Swiderska identified the bodies of her three sons at the family home.
She later identified the body of her husband at St Peter’s Hospital mortuary in Chertsey, Surrey,
Coroner Simon Wickens said: “I would like to offer my condolences not only to Mrs Swiderska and her family, but to all who have been touched by the lives of her loved ones, at an indeed very, very difficult time.”
He adjourned the full inquest for three months while the police investigation continues.
The tragedy unfolded at around 1pm after a neighbour heard a woman’s “horrific screams” close to the property on Bremer Road.
Police scrambled to the scene by ambulance crews discovered the four bodies inside.
The force said it had referred itself to the Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC) due to previous contact with the family.
This related to “concerns about a man’s mental health” in August 2023, the watchdog confirmed.
They have since confirmed an investigation into the previous contact is not required.
The children’s heartbroken mum Angelika Swiderska paid tribute to her family.
She said: “Piotr was an amazing husband and father to Kacper, Nikodem and Dominik. He loved us with all his heart and would have done anything for us.
“Our boys were happy, active children, full of life and happiness.
“They were always smiling and even when I looked sad, they would say, ‘Mummy smile like us’.”
Senior Investigating Officer, DCI Kimball Edey said; “I would like to express my sincere condolences to the family of Dominik, Kacper and Nikodem for their loss.
“They will continue to be supported by specialist officers as our investigation continues.
“I would ask that their privacy is respected at what is a tremendously difficult time for them.”
