Sourav Ganguly Predicts Rishabh Pant as an ‘All-Time Great’ but Offers Key Advice
One of the numerous elements in the ongoing Duleep Trophy was Rishabh Pant’s return to red-ball cricket. Later this month, when India hosts Bangladesh, he is expected to make his Test cricket comeback. Pant hasn’t participated in a Test since being involved in an automobile accident in December 2022, but he is part of the team for the opening game of the series on September 19.
One of the all-time great India captains, Sourav Ganguly, who also served as the BCCI president, stated that he is not shocked that Pant returned to the Test team as soon as he was fit. “One of India’s top Test batsmen, in my opinion, is Rishabh Pant. At a promotional event here, Ganguly remarked, “I’m not surprised that he’s back in the side and he will continue to play for India in Tests.”
Prior to the vehicle accident that occurred in December 2022 and momentarily put an end to his career for more than a year, Pant was acknowledged as one of the world’s most potent Test batsmen. In 33 Test matches, he has amassed 2271 points at an average of 43.67, with five hundreds and eleven half-centuries. Pant has a 73.63 lifetime strike rate and was also well-known for his ferocity. He has lived two centuries in England and one hundred years in South Africa and Australia.
Ganguly and Pant are close collaborators on the Delhi Capitals IPL team. Ganguly is the team’s mentor and director of cricket, while Pant serves as captain. He made it clear that Pant needs to improve his limited-overs cricket effectiveness.
“He will be an all-time great in Tests if he keeps performing like this. For me, he needs to get better in the shorter formats. With the talent he has, I’m sure with time, he will become one of the best,” he said.
