Capital Region remembers 9/11 with local ceremonies

ALBANY, N.Y. (NEWS10)-- Several communities will come together on Wednesday to remember and honor the lives that were lost in the terrorist attack on Sept. 11, 2001. Local organizations, city governments, and more across the Capital Region have planned ceremonies and memorial services that community members are invited to remember the men and women who died during and after the attack.

Albany

The New York State Public Employees Federation (PEF) will hold a 9/11 ceremony at 9:45 a.m. at the memorial outside the PEF building on Troy-Schenectady Road.

Amsterdam

Amsterdam city officials will gather for a 9/11 Remembrance Ceremony at 9:30 a.m. in Riverlink Park at the 9/11 monument.

Ballston Spa

The village of Ballston Spa will hold a 9/11 Memorial Ceremony at 7 p.m. outside the village offices on Front Street.

Broadalbin

The Broadalbin-Kennyetto Fire Company will host a 9/11 Memorial Service at 7 p.m. in the firehouse.

Glens Falls

The Glens Falls Fire Department will host a 9/11 Remembrance Ceremony at 9:03 a.m. at the Ridge Street firehouse. Guest speakers will include retired FDNY EMS Lieutenant Jack Tims and city officials.

Glenville

Max 410 at The Waters Edge Restaurant will hold a 9/11 Tribute Ceremony at 5 p.m. at the memorial site adjacent to the restaurant.

Saratoga Springs

The Saratoga Springs Commemoration and Remembrance Ceremony will be held at the Tempered by Memory sculpture in High Rock Park. Those who attend should arrive by 8:15 a.m. for the ceremony, which starts at 8:30 a.m.

Saugerties

The Saugerties Emergency Services Association will hold the 9/11 Salute to Uniformed Public Service 23rd Anniversary Ceremony at 6 p.m. at Cantine Veterans Memorial Complex.

Schenectady

Assemblyman Angelo Santabarbara will host a 9/11 Memorial Service at 6 p.m. at the Bridge Christian Church on Crane Street in Schenectady.

Troy

Hudson Valley Community College will have a wreath presentation in remembrance of 9/11 from 8 to 9 a.m. at the Veterans Memorial Flag Pole on the main campus.

Valatie

The Columbia County September 11 Memorial on State Farm Road will have a 9/11 vigil at 6 p.m.

Watervliet

The city of Watervliet and the Watervliet-Colonie Elks Lodge 1500 will have a 9/11 Remembrance Ceremony at the lodge at 5 p.m.

Bennington, Vermont

The Bennington Walmart will hold a 9/11 Remembrance Ceremony. Those who wish to attend should arrive by 7:30 a.m. for the ceremony, which starts at 8 a.m.

Pittsfield, Massachusetts

The Pittsfield VFW Post 448 will have a brief 9/11 ceremony at the Veterans Memorial Park at 10 a.m.

Great Barrington, Massachusetts

The Great Barrington Fire Department will hold a 9/11 Remembrance Ceremony at the firehouse on State Road at 6:30 p.m.
