Riley County Police promote new assistant director
MANHATTAN (KSNT) - The Riley County Police Department (RCPD) are announcing the next assistant director, a woman who started as a dispatcher nearly 25 years ago.
The RCPD said Erin Freidline has been promoted to assistant director of the Department. According to a news release from RCPD, Freidline is a highly respected leader within the department. She will succeed Assistant Director Kurt Moldrup.
Captain Freidline has been with the RCPD since June 2000, and transitioned to a patrol officer in 2001. In her 24-year career, she has shown "unwavering commitment" to public safety by being a leader in many areas, such as being a school resource officer, detective and part of the Special Investigation Unit.
“Erin has consistently demonstrated an exceptional commitment to this department and the community we serve,” RCPD Director Brian Peete said. “Her leadership, experience, and dedication make her the ideal choice for Assistant Director, and we are confident she will continue to advance the mission and values of RCPD.”
In 2007, Freidline was promoted to sergeant, where she oversaw the patrol and detective units. She moved up to a lieutenant in 2013, leading the evening patrol shift and supervised detectives, Crime Scene Investigations (CSI) and the Evidence unit.
Five years later, Freidline was promoted to captain. In this role, she served as commander of the Support Division. In 2021, she returned to Investigations as commander, where she leads presently with distinction, according to the news release.
In the assistant director role, Freidline is play a crucial role in the strategic direction of the department and assisting to oversee operations and guide the department's future. According to the news release, the promotion is a testament to Freidline's hard work, leadership and trust that she has from her colleagues and the community. She will start her new Jan. 1, 2025.
